It’s a revelation for many people. There’s an unseen dimension now saturated with man-made electromagnetic fields (EMFs). They surround each of us. It’s in our homes, offices, shops and even our places of worship. EMFs weren’t a part of the human experience in times past. Now they’re becoming almost impossible to avoid. It’s not surprising that people are beginning to recognize the danger of the ever increasing EMF levels and are wondering how they can reduce their exposure.
The first and most critical area to control is the home. Your home should be a healthy and healing sanctuary. Getting EMFs under control in your home boils down to first understanding exactly what types and levels of EMFs you have in your home.
There are four basic types of EMFs and each will have it’s own ‘strength’. You might have low electric field strength, low magnetic field strength, but high levels of microwave radiation and dirty electricity for example. Second, you need a plan for addressing the specific challenges in your home since no two homes are the same.
Home Assessment
In a single visit we make a detailed assessment of the specific types and levels of radiation in your bedrooms and high-use areas. Plus, we show you how you can reduce these levels—a process called remediation. During this visit we’ll give you a written report that documents our findings and outlines the specific steps you can take to reduce EMF exposure in your home.
Construction
When constructing a new home, the design and material choices you make can result in reduced EMF exposures for the life of the home. It will never be easier or more cost effective to minimize your home’s EMF levels than to build EMF reduction into your home from the beginning. A small investment during planning and construction will yield great dividends over time. Let us work with you to make the specific changes you will need depending on ambient EMF conditions at your construction site.
If you have not yet purchased your home site, you should consider having an EMF survey before you purchase the land. All things being equal, why not choose the land which has the lowest ambient levels of EMF?
You wouldn’t want to find out after your land purchase that your beautiful view lot is being swept by radar 24×7, right? Or that there’s a strong magnetic field from underground utilities in the area. Or any number of other unseen threats I often find when evaluating land — even in very rural areas. Make EMF Remedy a part of your construction plans — you’ll be happy you did.
Alternative Energy
Having lived off-grid in an alternative energy home for 10 years, I can say that there are many rewards for those so inclined to this lifestyle. However, off-grid homes can present some electromagnetic field challenges above and beyond those typically associated with conventional homes. Hybrid homes, such as grid-tied solar, can present even more challenges.
So called ‘smart meters’ emit electromagnetic fields — through the air, through home wiring or both. Inverters generate magnetic fields, electric fields and dirty electricity. A hybrid home may have two smart meters — one for buying electricity from the grid, the other for selling it back.
Some alternative energy homes use direct current (DC) electricity to power lighting and appliances. This can save energy, but, there can be unintended consequences with regard to the creation of oscillating DC fields. These oscillations in the DC system can affect power quality of both DC and AC systems.
If you are planning to build an alternative energy or hybrid home you can make important design decisions now to reduce the effects of EMF in high-use areas and bedrooms — for the life of the home. It’s much better to be proactive in the design than to remediate problems later.
If you’re already living in an off-grid home let us perform a detailed assessment of EMF in your home and outline a specific plan for remediation of the EMF challenges in your home today.
